About Me
Hello, I’m Lesley Berliand, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist dedicated to supporting individuals and couples. Having completed four years of advanced training in Transactional Analysis, I'm currently preparing for my clinical exams (Diploma & CTA) while working towards an MSc.

My path into psychotherapy has been shaped by a varied life and professional experiences. Prior to working as a psychotherapist, I worked in finance and telecoms in London, and later on the equities floor in corporate finance in Paris. While in London, I worked in a mentoring capacity with Bridging the Gap Islington, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness. During Covid, I made the decision to leave banking in Paris, spending a year based in France while beginning my psychotherapy training. Alongside this, I offered my creative services pro bono to the Special Olympics, producing their promotional videos and digital content.

These experiences - spanning high-pressure corporate settings and grassroots community projects - strengthened my deep appreciation of how differently people live, the resilience it takes to adapt, and the importance of having somewhere safe to reflect and be understood. I have always had a deep-rooted desire to explore what makes people ‘tick’ and to help others understand ‘why we are the way we are’.

I work to help clients change restrictive patterns, perceptions and beliefs that underpin depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career issues, conflict/anger issues, low self-esteem and other issues that bring people to therapy. I believe awareness is the first step towards giving you the tools to gain new perspectives, finding acceptance and discovering patterns of behaviour and their underlying causes. I work hard to help clients find new practical and emotional strategies, in order to provide future resilience and a renewed zest for life.
My therapeutic approach is inclusive and integrative. As a proudly neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ practitioner, I work with clients from all backgrounds. I combine Transactional Analysis with other therapeutic techniques, tailoring the process to each person’s needs.
During our first session, I will outline how the therapeutic relationship works so that you feel comfortable with the process. I provide you with a safe, non-judgemental place to talk about your experiences, explore your options and develop the skills to handle various life challenges.

As an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy and the UK Association for Transactional Analysis, I adhere to the highest standards of professional practice and ethics. For details regarding issues I can help you with, along with areas of expertise and special interests, please see my Services.

One piece of advice I was once given by a therapist has stayed with me: “You need to be able to imagine saying the unsayable to your therapist.” That wisdom has shaped my practice ever since.
